Cause and Effect Essay
Sacrifice
“You are
free, you are free to go to your temples. You are free to go to your mosques or
to any other place or worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any
religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the
State”. These words were spoken by Pakistani founder Quaid-e-Azam. When
Pakistan declared its independence from India by British, in 1947, every Muslim
from India needed to migrate to the new land which was called Pakistan. It was
the purest opportunity for Muslims to leave India because they were about to gain
freedom from daily torture from the Hindus. During the migration, immigrants
from India suffered a lot including my grandparents. They also migrated with
other people to start a new life. The journey was difficult for my grandparents
and this migration was the beginning of new life and in the last, they also
moved for religious reasons.
At the beginning, the
journey was difficult for my grandparents. They had to migrate as soon as
possible to enter Pakistan. It took six weeks for my grandparents to reach
Pakistan, and my grandparents traveled a long journey by foot. During the journey my grandparents had a
scarce food and resources. In addition, Hindus were hunting and killing them
when they saw any Muslim. They were not in favor that Muslims should leave
India and travel to Pakistan because they wanted them as slaved in their
country. The journey was so bad that my grandfather had to carry a knife during
his whole journey to defend himself and others from bad people.
In addition, when my
grandparents finally made it to enter Pakistan after struggling, and they had
to start everything from the beginning. In India, my grandfather had a fabric
business, but it was burnt in riots in 1947. When the migration happened, he left
everything including home, business and relatives. Furthermore, it was a new
land for my grandparents. They were looking for shelter to cover themselves
from the open sky. Pakistan was the new land, so he worked with his friends to
establish a small home for them. My grandfather and his friends worked
tirelessly to build a house, and they all lived with peace in that handmade
house. The government of Pakistan also opened small firms like grocery stores,
textiles factories to hire people, so the people could earn a living.
Finally, the important
reasons were for migration due to religion. India boycotted all the religious
rights for Muslims like they were not allowed to sacrifice animals in the month
of “Eid-ul-Azha”. In addition, Hindus
burned holy places for Muslims especially mosques, Hijabs and niqabs were
pulled off Muslim women, and they were being raped by Hindus. Muslims
households’ items were thrown on streets and burned in the bonfire by Hindus.
Muslim homes were sold out without asking them.
Therefore, Muslims need a safe and secure land to practice their
religion and live in peace. My grandfather took a deep breath when he heard
that finally Muslims are getting our own place for worship. My grandparents
were very happy when they heard that they got their own country with full of
rights.
This is how my
grandparents experienced this whole journey. However, though the journey was
hard for them, my grandparents did not give up because grandfather believed the
Pakistani founder. After the development, of Pakistan my grandfather purchased
another home for my father, and it all happened in the mid of 1940. The
political leaders of both countries India and Pakistan have issues like currently
both countries are breaking political relations for war, and citizens of both countries
are trying to resolve this matter.
